Method
- Preheat oven to 190C /375F/ Gas mark 5.
- Cream margarine and caster sugar together until soft.
- Gradually beat in the two eggs.
- Sift in flour and two tbsp of the cocoa powder and mix in.
- Spoon into buttered 2 1/2 pint ovenproof dish.
- Mix remaining cocoa powder and sugar with 1/2 pint boiling water.
- Pour cocoa powder mix over sponge mix.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until sponge is cooked and sauce has soaked to the bottom of dish.
Top Tips
- You can do steps 1-3 in a food processor
- When you pour wet mix over cake it does look a bit bleurgh but believe me it's fine
Summary
Serve with custard, ice cream and or just with a big spoon. Great to share if you really have to.
