Eat Cheese!

Cheesy Peas

Rowland Coping

This is not sophisticated, and it's not at all fancy - it's also not especially some kind of fan-boy homage to the classic Fast Show sketch although I can't deny it inspired me to give it a try.

Nope, this is lunch in a hurry, most likely when you've run out of bread.  It's the cupboard dish of cupboard dishes, and here's how it's done.

Ingredients

- 2 x potato waffles

- 2 x eggs

- 1 x mug of peas

- grated cheddar cheese

Let's Make Cheesy Peas

1) Put a frying pan on the heat with some oil.  It doesn't matter what.

2) When the oil is hot, add waffles.  As well as frying them, you could grill them or bake them, they are awfully versatile.

3) Whilst your waffles are cooking, you can finish your preparation.  Grate some cheese (as much as you like, hell treat yourself).

4) Fill a mug with frozen peas. Microwave the mug of peas for about 3 minues.  This is a regular sized mug by the way.  You know the sort.

5) Once the waffles are cooked (you can use your judgment here) remove them to a plate.  Fry two eggs in the pan, to your liking.  I prefer mine over-easy, but each to their own.

6) Put the eggs on the waffles.  Put the peas on the eggs (they will go everywhere, and not look neat like the picture where I just put a few on).  Top with the grated cheese.

7) Be surprised and amazed at how good it tastes.

Summary

In my opinion, this is great.  It's great when you have random stuff in the fridge or freezer but ironically enough pretty much nothing to eat. It's great when you just can't be bothered.  It's great because at a push you don't even need the cheese, or the peas, or the eggs; you can use what you've got in at the time.  It's great because it tastes good and makes life better.

And if you ask me, all food should do that.
